When a customer demands a system with minimal configuration, the whole system (server and client applications)
can be run on one powerful machine. Free MS SQL can be used for data storage. This solution is only recommended for
cases which require reading of only dozens of devices and no need for constant availability.
For robust solutions where system availability, or at least that of key parts is a high priority,
and with the demand of reading thousands of devices or more, we recommend dedicating adequately
powerful server machines for the server applications. This solution has a whole range of advantages,
among the most important:
CONFIGURATION
The AVE system can be configured to the exact needs of the customer, including either configuring
the whole system as a complex solution with servers separate from client systems
across multiple machines, or to configure it all on one machine.
Running the central parts of the application in balance mode
The central part can run across multiple servers. In this mode, incoming requests are delegated among the servers for the fastest possible execution time.
Load balancing
The subsystem for automating data reads can be run on n-tier servers which significantly reduces data acquisition time.
Servers substitution
In the event of Device Driver Server failure, data reading can be redirected to another Device Driver Server via AVE Client. This can be configured for every gas service point to occur automatically without user intervention.
Launching critical system parts in cluster configuration
We recommend installing critical system parts with a demand for constant availability, on a cluster system. In the event of a single node failure or termination of an AVE server, the application will be launched on the next node automatically.

Server-server communication and server - client communication is based on the TCP/IP protocol. Data exchange is handled by two ports, which are configurable (config-files) for each subsystem.
System and all server subsystem require installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (all system parts). AVE can be installed via XCopy method or with the install wizard. AVE Client updating is fully automatic with the integral update module.
Installation requirements
Minimal software requirementsEach part of AVE 2 requires a supported operating system. The list of supported operating systems for each part can be found here.
The following table shows the minimal software requirements for each part of AVE 2. For installation of more than one part of AVE 2 on one machine, that machine must meet the minimal software requirements for all parts of the AVE 2 system.
